About KÓKILI

KÓKILI is an award-winning inter-disciplinary interior design studio based in New York City focused on interiors, furniture, and product design founded by So Jung Lee. Driven by creating beautiful objects, experiences, and celebrating the optimism of life, we attempt to give all our projects an integrity that comes from experiencing something new, but which at once feels wholly ‘right’.

코끼리

“KÓKILI” means elephant in Korean. So Jung’s father created toys for children when she was a child back in Korea. The toy company was named after elephant, which signifies strength, protection, love and loyalty. KÓKILI hopes to create spaces and products that bring a child-like wonder and reconnect with our playful and purest selves.

So Jung brings over 10+ years of experience as a designer in the luxury residential sector in New York City, Westchester, Hamptons and Silicon Valley. Her works have been published in prestigious magazines and books, including Dezeen curated exhibit, Interior Design, wallpaper*, Yanko Design, Thames & Hudson and many other outlets.

Material, Artisanry & Sustainability

Places are imprinted on our memories through our powerful ability to see, smell and remember, leaving indelible impressions of the places we visit. We are compelled to seek comfort and magic wherever we are. KÓKILI strives to capture these powerful experiences, by traveling widely for inspiration, grounding ourselves in historical context and precedents, and finding modern solutions to create contemporary beauty for every design.

We collaborate with custom makers and builders, artisans and artists, indulging in rigorous conversations, to create designs that truly connect with nature, art and beauty. We respect the authenticity of materials in its purest form, both conceptually and materially. Every product is lovingly created in small batches with precision and care. Every space is designed with an intention for a tailored lifestyle, comfort and timelessness.
